She flipped through pages and pages of photos of a little girl with dancing eyes and a glowing smile. Almost every photo of the girl revealed the same happiness. It was something she desperately longed for herself, unconditional happiness.
She could see through the pages of time as the girl grew the dancing stopped and the light dimmed. She wondered whatever happened to that little girl. How could someone be so bright simply fade away?
Then a thought came to her, “It’s powerful to be happy.” She imagined there were people who couldn’t handle the girl’s happiness, so they put a stop to it. They found a way to break the little girl’s spirit.
The little girl was once her.
Then she saw she had become just like those who couldn’t handle happiness in the first place. It was like the world around her was always communicating, “You can’t be happy in this place. You especially don’t deserve to be happy when we’re so miserable.”
Someone was definitely telling the truth when they said, “Misery loves company.” So she decided she would do everything she could to get back to living in the power of happiness. She never wanted to be like everyone else anyway.
