I drew you in like a pencil on paper But I can flip the pencil at anytime To erase you out of my life. You need to know this. I was sketching your frame Upon my heart's paper As if we were meant to be, But the lines have faded And I don't know why you're here. Maybe you shouldn't be, Maybe this isn't the time, Maybe it's a farce, Or larceny, Or a scam, a sham, Or merely deception. I know you don't understand How I could think this, Or even consider the possibility This eraser is my friend. But that's just it, You don't truly know me, And you've stopped Trying to discover What else is within and without And there lies the problem - Apathy. Apathy kills the greatest of souls On this boundless life experience. You stopped wondering And asking questions, Stopped being curious And adventurous. You stopped the surprises And spontaneity, Stopped dreaming, Stopped believing Stopped imagining, Stopped drawing outside the lines. You've put everything in a box, Including me, And I will not be contained Within anyone's lines. I will erase you eventually As if I never drew you in the first place. You need to know this, Before this page is blank again. © 2022 Loly Rinn Photo by Hans Isaacson on Unsplash
