I needed you. You never understood how much Because you thought I was strong, But strength plays a good game of charades. I honestly needed you. Kind of like the wind when it wraps around a tree, And dances through the leaves causing it to sing Mesmerizing, fascinating melodies. I needed you like that. Especially when my hope went missing in action, And I got lost in a jungle of grief. It felt like I was prey to a boa constrictor, And I thought I was being crushed to death. Where were you when the death knell chimed? I wanted to find your hand reaching for mine When the world felt like it would explode, But I was really imploding. Where were you? Why didn't you come running to me When there was no other place for you to go either? Now the shadows scoff and ghosts are laughing Because they've known and understood, I would need you until I didn't need you anymore. © 2022 Loly Rinn Photo by Gift Habeshaw on Unsplash
