The night air was colder than cold But even so I stepped outside Walking into the moonlight Shadows danced frigidly before me My wishes fluttered through the wind My feet stepped gently on the snow Then I saw what only a dream could give A frost of frozen diamonds shining all around But even so, it wasn't a dream The moonlight shimmered upon the frozen snow Creating a magical world of silent fantasy Where I only wished I could be I knew the warm winds would whisk it away It would be gone until the latter Stay in my heart it would Still I wanted it to last on But even so, it could not Reality ran to me and I went back inside © 2021 Loly Rinn From a personal anthology of bygone poetry Photo by Evan Leith on Unsplash
