The universe speaks differently

This is a story about us
Me and the universe
Even though the religiosity I found myself in
Said differently
Said to deny, hate, despise, dislike,
Ignore, avoid, smother, crush, and kill myself
Kill my needs, wants, and desires
And a man conveyed the same

The universe speaks differently

It said I must always think of someone else
Before myself
I must surrender to all before me
Shrink back and hide
Declare I am unworthy, never good enough
This is what was said
Deny myself everything at all costs
And a man conveyed the same

The universe speaks differently

The universe says we are one
And if I hate myself, I hate my brother or sister
And this can not be
Says don't be convinced of anything else but love
Only love
No judgement or condemnation
I, the expression of us
Stardust on the ground

The universe speaks differently
