She used to laugh, Used to shine like the stars And beam like the sun. She was so bright and beautiful, A wonder to the world. She'd hug you till you were crushed, Race you to the end of time, Sing off key to surprise you, Color outside the lines to annoy you, Break the rules whenever she could, And stand in power like a queen. Sadly, the power caused dismay to some. They couldn't handle the infiltration, Or the wrecking of their miserable paradigm. So they put a stop to it, Tore her down and broke her spirit. Her spirit laid in pieces on the floor, Broken apart like a thousand-piece puzzle. She cried and she died inside, But she gathered the pieces And held them close. She hid them away deep within, Placed them in the sacred secret place Far inside her heart. Silently protecting herself through time, She observed the world from a distance. Until she found a day to be rather brave, And set to task the reconnecting Of the pieces she hid inside. One by one she took them out, Connected them together And began to create a picture. The unveiling of the girl within, Something of beauty unfolding And the revelation of the lies. Love pushed the final pieces together To reveal a powerful light of truth, She had always been the puzzle of perfection And she laughed. © 2021 Loly Rinn Photo by Ryoji Iwata on Unsplash
