Someone is digging a grave And I am watching as it deepens Are my dreams being buried In the ground of someone else's selfishness? No one sees this but me And all of my wondering Am I meant to be the ground For someone else to walk upon? Someday the conflict will be Between my dreams and the obligation How will I ever know what to choose When morality is involved? I wish there could be a place For my dreams to stand above Doesn't anyone else know seeking To make dreams come true is happiness? I am hoping deeply no one Will be hurt in the end But won't the day be sad when I speak the truth and go my own way? © 2021 Loly Rinn Photo by Daniel Lincoln on Unsplash From a personal anthology of bygone poetry
