I paint a picture of myself for you It is painted the way I want to portray myself The way I want you to see me See the colors as they decorate me But also search for inner self Search for my heart For the hands of my heart paint this picture And my mind is the canvas My mind is my knowledge As you look do you find it captivating? Or is it just another painting? Just another face in the crowd? Seek further for deeper colors of the soul A true person will paint true colors Will paint even the shades of gray I trust to believe I paint the true me Therefore what you see is not perfect What you see is the truth So do not look at this picture blindly But see it from within your heart From within my portrait © 2021 Loly Rinn Photo by Michael Dziedzic on Unsplash From a personal anthology of bygone poetry
