Omen of the owl

'Tis the dark of night
And the bird flies
For prey to sight
Silent wings pass by

Companion of Minerva
The goddess of wisdom
The owl is hers
Within this kingdom?

Nocturnal bird of prey
Deemed portent of doom
Evil night equated with way
Because blind to what looms?

Now a man's selection
To fear or appreciate
Directed eyes of connection
Of what shall initiate

Hurl the quest of why
Man wasn't to know
Of omen and owl tried
A mentor out of cove
